These Terms govern your use of services operated by People vs Algorithms, LLC (”PvA,” “we,” “us”), including our newsletter and podcast at peoplevsalgorithms.com and our SMS-based service, PvA Field Notes, at pvanotes.com. By using any of our services you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The services

We publish a newsletter and podcast at peoplevsalgorithms.com. We also operate PvA Field Notes, a private SMS-based note-taking and content-curation service for enrolled members at pvanotes.com.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use our services.

Enrollment in PvA Field Notes

Field Notes is open to invited members of People vs Algorithms communities. You may enroll via self-registration at pvanotes.com (with explicit SMS consent) or by administrator invitation (after the admin has obtained your prior consent).

SMS program — required disclosures

By enrolling in Field Notes, you consent to receive SMS messages from People vs Algorithms, LLC at the mobile number you provide.

• Message frequency varies based on your activity.

• Message and data rates may apply from your wireless carrier. PvA is not responsible for such charges.

• To opt out at any time, reply STOP to any message. You will receive a single confirmation.

• For help, reply HELP, or contact troy@peoplevsalgorithms.com.

• We support the major US wireless carriers. PvA is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use our services to send unlawful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, infringing, obscene, or rights-violating content. We may remove content or terminate access for Terms violations.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting, you grant PvA a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the relevant service.

Modifications and termination

We may modify or discontinue any service. We may update these Terms; material changes will be communicated. You may stop using our services at any time — unsubscribe from the newsletter via the link in any email, or reply STOP to Field Notes messages.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Our services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, PvA disclaims all warranties and is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York.
