Brian's diagnosis is right but stops too early. The unprincipled leadership crisis isn't just Schumer dottering down the aisle or CEOs who are self-interested. It's fractal. The same pattern runs through every layer the CTO who says the right things in the all-hands and something different in the room with their director. The senior leader who knows the decision is wrong but doesn't say so because the authority structure punishes honesty more than it punishes bad outcomes.

We focus on the top because the top is visible. But most people experience leadership at the middle their direct manager, their skip level, the person who decides whether their work matters. That's where the unprinciple ness lands. And that's the layer nobody's building a task force for.
